Trust Signals

Visual elements that increase visitor confidence in a business — reviews, certifications, badges, guarantees, social proof.

All terms
Full definition

Trust signals are elements displayed on a website that reduce visitor skepticism and increase conversion likelihood. For contractor sites, the highest-impact trust signals are: Google review count + rating, BBB rating, Google Guaranteed badge, manufacturer certifications (GAF, James Hardie, Trane), years in business, real before/after photos, and named owner with photo.

Why it matters

Trust signals directly drive conversion. A page with strong trust signals converts 2-4× higher than one without.

Example

Adding 'BBB A+ Rating + 87 Google Reviews + Google Guaranteed' to a roofer's hero section lifts conversion rate measurably within weeks.
