JSON-LD
The recommended JSON-based format for writing schema markup on websites.
JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) is the format Google and other search engines prefer for structured data. JSON-LD is embedded in a website's HTML via `<script type='application/ld+json'>` tags and contains Schema.org-vocabulary descriptions of the page content.
JSON-LD is the only schema format Google actively recommends in 2026. Microdata and RDFa still work but are deprecated.
An Iron Pine subindustry page emits 6 JSON-LD blocks: Person, Service, FAQPage, HowTo, BreadcrumbList, and Speakable.
Schema Markup (Structured Data, JSON-LD)
Code added to a website that explicitly tells search engines and AI engines what the page is about.
FAQPage Schema
A type of schema markup that tells search engines a page contains a list of frequently asked questions and their answers.
LocalBusiness Schema
Schema markup type that identifies a website as belonging to a local business and specifies its NAP, hours, and service area.
