NAP (Name, Address, Phone)
The Name, Address, and Phone number of a business — and the consistency of that information across the web.
NAP refers to the consistency of a business's Name, Address, and Phone number across web directories (Google Business Profile, Yelp, BBB, Apple Maps, Angi, etc.). NAP inconsistencies are a Map Pack ranking signal — Google reads conflicting NAP as a confidence problem with the business.
NAP inconsistency directly hurts Map Pack ranking. Contractors with conflicting phone numbers or addresses across directories rank below contractors with locked NAP.
A gutter installer listed as '(816) 555-0123' on GBP and '(816) 555-3210' on Yelp will rank lower for 'gutter installer Kansas City' than a competitor with matching NAP everywhere.
